  1. I think that Chapter 1 reveals a lot about the main character children.

Since Cassie and Little Man seem to be somewhat unaware of the racism in their area of the south, do you think this might continue to pop up as a reoccurring problem?

  2. I think chapter 1 wasn't so bad.The only part I don't like is when Ms. Crooker is rude to the kids. The funny part was when Mama was putting tape all over the front page.

  3. Erdivania, Why did you think it was funny that she was tapping over the front pages?

  4. I didn't really think it was funny but I thought it was a good thing that she did it.I don't think any children should receive books that has stuff like that on it.

  5. I don't think Ms. Crooker should have bet Litle man and Cassie because if she took the same time to bet them she could have use that same quickness to ask why he was so up set and why they both was so affected about the books that was give to them.

  8. I really like chapter one it has so much action, but the only part i didn't like was when the children and Cassie had to use the old textbooks just because they were black. THAT'S JUST WRONG! However i still like chapter one the most so far.

  9. It was really mean when the textbook said "September 1933, very poor NIgra,". I think it was just wrong of them to write that in a textbook those words aren't meant for anyone to see.

  10. what i liked about chapter one is when little man stepped up to his teacher Miss croker about the conditions of the book and the racist word nigra that is on the chart on the back of the book.

  11. Chapter One was a good way to start of the book. I think it showed what it was oging to be about. I loved the part where Little Man stood up and expressed his feelings.

  12. Chapter One to me was kinda good,it really kept me at the edge of my seat. I think that it was just trying to make me wanna know more and kinda lead us into the topic. I loved the part when Mary Lou Wellever said "Hey Cassie," and Cassie replied "Hey Yourself!". It was just funny the way that Mary Lou Wellever kept on walking after that response.
